This is my truth:
I have no idea what is going on.
I only know that we must create
and keep on creating no matter what.

Poetry Reading: After 1000 Broken Vows
From my book: Tea with the Midnight Muse
About exploring that place in our lives when
we are ready to let go and welcome something new…

After 1000 broken vows
we will rise again. I promise.
Surrendering to the mystery
of knowing and not knowing,
we finally understand
that we will not do everything
we say we will.
This confession
should feel like a relief.
We have transcended getting it right,
when we finally get it that we won’t.
We can let ourselves off our
own meat hooks
when we finally know
integrity comes and goes.
Perfection is over-rated.
One fine day,
in the middle of the night,
our truths lined up single file
and went out for a midnight spree
and then didn’t come home
and we woke up truth-less.
Then it is time to begin again.
Better that the heart
be broken 1000 times
than never open at all.
My job is to wipe the fevered brow
of our restless creative musings,
not demolish the hospitals
that house our sicknesses.
Though I do dream of revolution for breakfast.
This is my truth:
I have no idea what is going on.
I only know that we must create
and keep on creating no matter what.
Before the mending with red thread,
first, the breaking open.
Vow 1001 . . .
I have been waiting for you.

The above poem is from 2012. A time in my life when I was at the bottom of what I thought was the bottom. I remember the day the poem came through. It was like lightening…like motion…like the hand of the divine moving through and re-arranging all of my particles, a waiting since forever for something new to arise. Have you had that experience too?
I don’t have clear language for what poetry changes in us as it moves through. I don’t understand it. I just know it works. This poem was healing for me and for some reason it just wanted to land in your inbox today. I also made a video so you can watch the reading and even share it, if you feel called here.
I have a few things coming up in person, including in Sonoma this weekend where I am teaching with my husband, Jonathan. And today is a replay of my mini-workshop with the Shift Network where I offer an exercise I call Metacognitive Drawing. And, I am excited that my long awaited course, the Dance of the Critic and the Muse is live and ready for registrations. Come on over to my first class in maybe ever, that isn’t painting, yep, I know….?!WHAT? This one is pen and paper and no ‘art skill’ is needed, honest.
Thank you to all of you who prayed with me on MLK Day. I feel like I felt you.
Sending blessings along the red thread…

P.S. If you want to join me for a replay of my free mini-workshop it’s here. https://shiftnetwork.isrefer.com/go/smSS/a18983/. If you can’t attend in person, signup and receive the recording.
Join me TODAY for a LIVE Encore Presentation:
During our time together you will discover
- How the inner critic has been with you since childhood and why most of your attempts to break free are doomed to fail
- A powerful tool you can use to seduce your critic into being your ally
- Where the Muse hides — and how to invite her out
- How to listen to the Muse and hear what she’s been wanting to tell you
- Experiential practices to awaken your self-expression
- How unleashing your creativity can help you rewire your brain

The Dance of the Critic and the Muse
February 14 Online for 7 Weeks
A 7 Week Initiation Into the Voice and Vision of Your Soul
I have a 7 Week online class coming up called The Dance of the Critic and the Muse, and guess what? For once it isn’t painting, I am working with pen and paper! We will be experiencing and illustrating 7 gates of initiation. This isn’t about talent with drawing, but we will be moving the pen with what I call ‘metacognitive drawing’. I have been working on this class for months, but really my whole life! This technology is sacred to me because it impacts all of our lives in such deeply profound ways – and it is truly time to transcend the constraints of that critic and fall in love with the muse!
I am collaborating with a local yet global education and evolution community, the Shift Network to bring this message to our mutual communities. They are located in Petaluma and many of my friends past and present are on that team there. I was delighted to be invited and to share quantum space with this spicy topic.

May LOVE be at the CENTER of all CHOICES
