Dear One Shiloh Sophia,
Today I am writing with a share. An invitation to pause with me for about 6 minutes to watch this video I just finished last night. I thought you might enjoy it.
I recently began a 13 moon journey called Anthropas with over 150 women worldwide, our Rites of Passage in Paint. We are exploring becoming a true human being, starting at the beginning of our lives and creation itself. Diving into our version of the Creation Story to see what is there for us. What does it mean to truly embody both the human and divine as one holy whole?
This is the start of the painting process covering over 16 feet of wall. In this painting step I am exploring the Big Bang idea – with my own poetic interpretation from the original sparks all the way through to the human being. You can see that instead of one initiating spark, I painted two – a coming togther of union – more like a cosmic orgasm than a big bang. This was an intuitive shift in the moment, feeling a call for multiplicity instead of one thing exploding. It was quite revealing for me.
Each black ring represents one of the 13 billion years. On the far right in that circle is a star map of the day I was born. Each artist will add her own star map to her painting. I had no clear design idea since it is all flowing from source within in the moment and is an active form of prayer. I am often surprised by what emerges, and delighted. This is paired with the poetic prayer of connection and gratitude to the Great Beings. By Great Beings, I mean, the Creator/s, the intelligence within, through and behind the design.
This film shares how I work with ritual in my self expression through Intentional Creativity. I am truly and profoundly moved by what creativity invites into consciousness. I am still learning in the video editing process, but I am so happy to share this film with you.
I am over the moon with joy at being able to work with the music of Jamie Sieber in the Anthropas class these 13 moons – I feel it made all the difference in how I felt when I was painting and listening.
For you…what is the creation story you were told as a child? And what story are you telling yourself now? Whatever it is, let it be conscious, chosen and inform your journey. Often theses stories influence us so greatly – and we aren’t even aware of how embedded they are. Get a cup of tea, and a journal and just do some exploring and get conscious with where you are today. It was a GREAT experience for me.

p.s. For Anthropas, I chose to paint on a large wood panel, something fresh that I have never done before at this size and has been an incredible experience! While we recommend as big as you can find, your canvas doesn’t need to be quite this big. 36×48 will suffice :-)
