I am working from the road in New York today preparing for our upcoming events here at the United Nations, and our group of Intentional Creativity Teachers coming into town.
Tomorrow we celebrate International Woman’s Day so I wanted to write you today with an invitation to participate through changing your profile pic on social media to one of your paintings of the feminine if you have one (if not then save the date for my upcoming class, because YOU TOO can paint).
For a very long time, the ‘media’ has defined the ‘face’ of the feminine. And body of course. When we reclaim our image as women, we reclaim ourselves. In our community this is a part of our process. So by posting the image, you show solidarity with women. You might even write and share your own ‘honoring’ like I did a the top. Let’s share our appreciation. You can see mine here.

With heart, and gratitude for women worldwide. And you, male or female, I am grateful for you too. You might wonder, especially if we have never met, how I could feel genuine gratitude for you, but I do. It’s a quantum love thing. I started these letters for those I had never met, many of whom are now my community.
You Have Arrived
Discovering Identity through Intentional Creativity
Dear One,
Here’s how it begins,
a mid-life awakening beckons…
An invitation to ‘be who you are’ comes
from your inner or outer world
A call to beauty, or suffering,
an invitation to tea with the great mystery
You answer with your curiosity
leaning in towards the unknown edges
An inquiry naturally follows:
Who is doing the asking and answering?
Your observation of your own self
and process is activated, kapow!
Since you haven’t been being this self,
you don’t really know where to look
Your being lives inside, all around as energy,
and inhabits your physical being as you
When those layers of being are fragmented
you can feel lost, crazy, irrelevant, hopeless
If you haven’t being this self for some time
you cannot just ‘make it up’ even if you try
You don’t have to make up who you are,
you already are who you are
Yet you may not have been co-creating,
now you know you can choose to create you
Most of us allow the stories that hurt the most
to shape the biggest part of our identity
We don’t do this consciously, we actually
don’t know it is happening or what else to try
Shaping the self from the past is no longer working,
the seeking intensifies, looking for clues and signs
A journey into who you are deepens
to discover the inner or hidden self
An inward and outward journey that will inform
every single relationship you have had or will have
With time, you will discover who you are
now through inquiry coupled with self expression
This doesn’t happen all at once, living into identity,
into presence, happens through experiment
We seek teachers, process, classes and magic
to help us, yet you know only you can do the work
Self expression having nothing to do with talent
or looking good, shows us what is hidden
Your stuck energy begins to move about
revelations emerge and chaos at times
Dance, sing, paint, write, speak, draw, sew,
throw pots, make prayer beads and listen….
The heart of your hidden self will speak to you
while you are moving your hands, body, mind
While you are in motion with intention,
new connections and ideas are forming
This may at times, be uncomfortable, because
there may be a reckoning in the process
You may feel a sense of loss, anger, betrayal
or a desire to crush, sever, hurl, crash, leave
At times it is hard to know what is happening,
the lid is off the bottle and the genie is loose
With time and practice the hidden parts integrate
with the parts of you that you are living in the world
The identity you witness begins to be revealed,
discovered, shaped, increasingly colorful
You may notice that you have your own information
,that you have content bursting forth seeking light
You are then at cause to curate how this information
makes itself known through your lived out identity
You don’t just ‘invent’ something entirely new
in the making of self and the shaping of identity
You have been there the whole time
Even if you didn’t know
There is a healing taking place in real time
You feel the changes shake you up and out
You weave between your many worlds of being
until you feel the flow or your soul voice rising
Listening with tender focused intently
You hear your song begin to strengthen
When you feel it…honor it…listen…dedicate time
find others who are seeking to practice with
Healing will happen in tandem with your journey
Change will be catalyzed through Intentional Creativity
You cannot figure this out or harness this energy
You become who you are through experience
You continue to nurture this identity through
self expression and tracking transformation
All along the way celebrate your new freedoms,
practice forgiveness for yourself and others
Make a promise to yourself to re-member you,
You have been waiting for this awakening
You have arrived, and will keep on arriving,
as long as you continue to show up for yourself
All along the way you will find us there,
cheering you along, doing our work with you
Mid-life awakening through self expression can be
a dance of paradox and pleasure
Just keep on showing up for you
you are so much more than worth what it takes
Let curiosity be your guide
Let the voice of soul ring out!

Wonderful fun and friend filled opening last Friday at the Pacific Grove Art Center. I am grateful to share the work. People came out of the woodwork as it were, some in my community for 15-20 years. That was nice. New and old friends and contacts.
