A Message from Shiloh Sophia
Dear Ones,
Since the pandemic started about a year ago, each of us has been impacted in different ways. I remember Jonathan and I having our last ‘cocktail hour’ here in Sonoma and wondering when we would be out again. We talked with our waiter friends nervously. We too are merchants, with a wine bar, a retail shop, and a full calendar of in-person events and space rentals at our Musea Sonoma location.
We are all carrying our own ‘stuff’ (and likely stuff from others too). When I say stuff I mean the energy, stress, fear, loss, uncertainty, etc… that has come with living through this time of uncertainty and isolation.
This is not to say there hasn’t been magic and blessings alongside the hard stuff. I am pretty good at finding the beauty in the shadows, well, that’s because of my muse! Today I ask you – is your soul in need of a creative retreat play day with ME!?
When we have to survive instead of thrive, we can start feeling lost or out of sync with who we really are and what we really want. Then it is time for some flirty energy with the MUSE – so come on and join me for a day of play.
Since I began teaching art in 1997, a big part of my sacred assignment has been guiding women to find the doorway to the inside world where the juicy stuff is. Taking them behind the veil of ‘ordinary reality’ to the place within our imagination where the Muse keeps house. The voice of the MUSE is often overshadowed by the critic, yet the Muse holds the keys to rediscover what matters to you.
This is no easy door to enter if you don’t know where it is hahaha! You cannot just walk on in and make yourself at home – a courtship is required, there is some etiquette to consider. Before getting cozy you must get a bit out of your own way.
We will play the drum and beckon her to come out of hiding!
My Muse often awakes me in the middle of the night. She knows that the in between hours are the threshold between light and dark. For her, I am willing to get up and paint in my nightgown until the sun begins to glow. She feeds me ideas like sweet honey and I awaken inspired to share these ideas with you and our community.
Over 10 years ago I recorded my second video series around this idea, Tea with the Muse, which was attended by thousands of women over the years. Then 3 years ago we held the Midnight Muse online retreat as I felt it was time for a fresher upper.
So I will bring you the teachings of the Muse through this all new class – MUSE FUSE. You can never paint your Muse too many times. She is like a chameleon with ever changing colors, always bringing fresh wisdom and insight to your life right when you need it. Here is a painting by Intentional Creativity Teacher, Tania Magennis from Midnight Muse in 2018 – isn’t it just DELICIOUS!

The painting process will be recorded so you can go at your own pace. You will be held in a beautiful online community of women creatives each doing our own work and sharing our process. We will also write a story to go with your painting – imagine what your Muse has to say after this wild ride of a year!
This class is wonderful for all levels of experience. If you’re new to drawing faces, we will paint the face 10 different times so you can practice finding your Muse face.

If you received Shiloh Sophia’s Red Thread Letters in 2020 you will know that instead of writing about the pandemic, she decided to write about the adventures of the Muse. Out of the writings, she has created a whole book called WISHBONE – Muse at the Back Door Stories and students of Muse Fuse will be the first to hear the stories read from the draft of the book. Then you will be sparked to write your OWN story of the Muse!
