I send you Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse exciting greetings this day!
If you could see me, I am jumping out of my seat with JOY. Why? Well, fulfilling a lifelong dream in the middle of a year like this feels BIG.
Ready for this?
In 2021 we are transitioning our education model to a University, in addition to our museum, and enrolling in our first course in January called RITUAL. Enrollment is open –learn more now.
Like so many other businesses and communities, we had to adapt quickly in 2020. Words like ‘agile’ don’t even come close. Yet trying to do it without panic, and with grace, and the reality of the financial impact has been quite a dance. We have done the best we could, meanwhile, continuing to work towards our dreams even if we can’t host you physically in our actual Museum and School. That will come again dear ones, and we will hold your hands in real space and time and have tea (and cake of course!). Jonathan and I are holding the physical ground and inviting you to the quantum classroom for our members in 2021. Yes, we even have our own private app, iMusea.
Imagine that all year long… alongside everything else…Musea has been working on opening our virtual Museum with thousands attending our openings so far and an awesome show line up for 2021. And…behind the scenes, quietly yet mightily forming our University with a Co-Curator team and an education specialist who prepares schools for granting degrees. Yes, we are steadily working towards offering a degree in Intentional Creativity. We will cover that in a future email. Step by step!
For now, our focus is to let you know of our plan and invite you to enroll in our first course offered in the context of the University. I will tell you the truth, that besides our core programming, I hope this is the only big new class I offer this year. I want to really focus on this – and to work with our students to really create an immense experience of beauty, peace, liberation and healing. Alongside whatever else we are dealing with in regard to grief, separation, and fear! Also, this class works well with whatever else you are taking, kind of a 101 primer to Intentional Creativity.
What I hear is that working with Intentional Creativity is one of the most profoundly healing experiences that thousands of students have ever had.
Part of the reason it is so powerful is that along with your images and stories, MUSEA is changing the feminine mythology and archetypal patterns of the future. We need this.
One of the first courses for our enrolled students and members of 2021 is called RITUAL and it will be an Intentional Creativity Foundational course that lasts all year long. How fun does it sound to gather with a Council of Colorful Creatives to paint and journal every single new and full moon of 2021?
My hope is that this course will fulfill the following:
The Foundational Material for practicing Intentional Creativity for new and existing students – the basics, the science, the approach and more.
This may be a required course in the future of the University if all goes well. We will be building a professional syllabus as we go along.
This work provides awesome focused devotion for our community of creatives to gather and do their own sacred work, sovereign, yet together.
Together we will create a museum show and storytelling experience at the completion of 2021 to be viewed by our global audience and our student members get to participate! WHAT!! Yes. In my highest vision, we make a book.
Perhaps most of all…change the stories and the images of the feminine in our lifetime. We will create them ourselves.
If you don’t know by now, I am big on story. Yet there is a real problem with a lot of the myths of old. Even the ones I love wake me up at night with a fright and a real concern for the impact they have on our unconscious. The sacrifice of the innocent feminine and the earth, issues with purity/virginity, the demonization of the feminine, anti-sensuality, normalization of violence, enslavement, rescue, conquest, subordination, injustice, elitism, the death of mothers and the supremacy of the masculine is extreme and pervasive in the mythology of most of our ancient cultures. (Sigh)
These patterns go way way back and are present in Greek, Roman, Celtic, Pagan, Egyptian, and Asian mythology just to name a few. Not to mention more recent stories from the past few thousand years in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Even if you don’t participate, or read these stories, you are impacted as it is invisible and in the culture. And. Your soul knows all about it, even if she isn’t saying. She needs a medium to speak into. Painting and writing ARE that medium.
While you can say that myths aren’t real life if you look at the rates of death and violence against women it is clearly the most dangerous pandemic the world has ever seen. It is embedded in our culture, our religions, our marriage structures, and our work life. Story and government continue to insist women are secondary, and Black, Indigenous and Women of Color are the most extreme victims of this mentality. This must transition but we can’t wait for the organizations, religions, and social structures to change it one day. We need to change it within ourselves as women in 2021. Musea is a conscious force for this transition. And I have not ceased to work on this for 27 years. (Writing this makes me cry, and shaking in my boots lets me know I am on the right track).
We will approach this in RITUAL by looking at the themes in the myths we tell, and then creating, moon by moon the myths of the future that honor all genders and colors as equal and celebrated. As well as beginning to see our lives as infused with mindfulness that up-levels into the sacred space as ritual. This course as a foundation is my heart and body in motion with the best of what I have to share, along with those joining me to offer this experience, especially Jenafer C. Owen who brings all the content deeper through journaling practice.
RITUAL is a foundation for women and girls to engage with the idea of the healed healer and weave the mythos of the future.
Seriously, it feels like the MOST important thing I can do right now. For women to learn to be the narrator of their own stories and images is essential for consciousness and healing.
Come read the beginning of the story in Stardust Memory to learn more about how we will access the hidden self, the exiled part of your soul, to do this work. This idea, of rescuing the one within, isn’t new of course. Psychology and many systems have addressed it over the years in different ways. But it isn’t a mental construct or intellectual concept. Embodied ritual is what invites this level of healing, and summoning of the whole self forward. Medicine Painting, Meditation, Movement – a true lived experience.
Dr. Estes who wrote ‘Women Who Run with the Wolves” shared with us the wild woman archetype and Dr. Martin Shaw speaks about the “Courting the Wild Twin’ – and these have gotten us much farther on the path than our Mothers were able to go. But there is more. And the more will be revealed in one place only and every place around the world at once. Your own studio, your Musea location.
Let’s gather and write and imagine a future that we are in love with. My teacher and mother of my heart, Sue Hoya Sellars used to say, “Being an artist is SO romantic” and indeed it is. You could also just think of this year as a time to fall in love…Shall we? Becoming an artist as a core life path for the Soul can be an invitation to falling in love with creation, consciousness, creativity, connection, and community.
This is your invitation to join us for the Yearlong Council of Colorful Creatives called Ritual starting mid-January.
Our Big News? Starting a University and moving towards a degree program. Someone has to change the future and finance the revolution we seek, why not women artists and writers? Join us!
Then it is time for the soul to dream in colors you have never seen. Then will you know that there is so much more than you imagined and hoped for. Then will you be granted a peek behind the veil of the mystery that is sufficient to blow the hair back from your head, squint at the brightness, and even shudder at the sight of what you have seen. And. Where you have been. It isn’t what you thought. You may not be who you think you are.
You see, a part of the soul has remained in exile no matter how much therapy you have done or strange trips to the mountains you have taken. You tried to call it back. You haven’t done anything wrong, you just weren’t really ready, yet. Perhaps you are now? If you are here reading this it is because there is a chance you are ready, only you can tell. Coming to a gathering like this is dangerous territory and not advised for those of you who are afraid of commitment. You can’t just start to call the whole soul back and then get too busy to finish the job. Not a good idea. The double-sided self will require your full attention, at least in the imaginal realm.
