We are the shelter of the sacred
No one is coming to save us from ourselves
We are the ones doing the saving
We cannot save ourselves by sleeping
We cannot save each other by angering
We cannot save the earth through complaining
Saving begins in the innermost temple
In the hidden places many of us have neglected

Solstice Greetings to those in the North and the South! I have loved Solsticeenergy and experiences for as long as I can remember. Sue Sellars, my teacher always made a big deal out of it and so do I! And so, drum roll….my new book is ready for pre-order! It is kind of a surprise actually – as I hadn’t been planning on it but a few weeks ago I started adding up all I have written these past two years and realized indeed, there was another book there.
I am so pleased to share that my new book of poetry spanning 2016-2017 is ready, called “Shelter of the Sacred”. Featuring 222 pages written on many early morning Red Thread Cafe’s with the Muse and sent right to you in these letters.
The back cover features a little me – perhaps age 5 – in my little shelter, a closet with my toys – see below.
I so appreciate your support for independent publishing and hope you will to purchase one copy (or more) as gifts for your beloveds. The book is soft cover, 220 pages and is $15. Publishing books at this level isn’t really about ‘making money’ but about sharing the work and your purchase allows women like me to keep sharing it.
Shelter of the Sacred : Within these pages are many of our community favorites: She Will Become Stardust, For Those Who are Obsessed, Hidden Self, Whispering to Hurricanes, This Revolution Will Not Be Ugly, Marking Death and Something is Happening!
The past two years has seen many changes and confrontations. From the hurricanes, fires, floods, shootings, climate changes, broken agreements, #metoo, drilling on Native Land and election impacts, the poems bring my reactions to life. I hope to bring a response to what is happening that is both fresh, and awake and yet also is a reckoning. A call for each of us to look at our part in the great unfolding as in For Those Who Are Obsessed and Secrets of the Unicorn Card. The primary themes are on encountering tragedy, creating resilience and choosing yourself no matter what. There is also, as always a true to form call to say yes, to show up and to participate as in We Have Been Waiting for You and Cantos for Reclamation.
These poems, not unlike Tea with the Midnight Muse, will be great for circles and ceremonies – but also for self healing, reflection and inspired action. There are also personal poems woven in for my love, Jonathan McCloud and members of my community and lineage including a few new intimate works for Caron McCloud, Mary MacDonald, Sue Sellars and Lenore Thomas Straus.
With the schedule I keep, it is often difficult for me to get deep into writing and painting – I just don’t have big enough spaces to dive in and be disconnected from all there is to manage right now with work and students. So I am grateful to see that indeed, I have been writing after all and yes, it is enough as it is. Of course I want to do more, and my magnum opus awaits my time and care, but it is also clear that time is not yet. I will share my theme for 2018 with you likely in my next letter. But for now, it’s down time for me and my love.
Thinking of you from Santa Fe where we are taking our winter break and looking forward to the return of the light….
sending love & gratitude for our connection,
May LOVE be at the CENTER of all CHOICES
